2003 Ford Focus ZX5 Starting Issue

Question type: Maintenance & Repair
I have a 2003 Ford Focus ZX5 SE. After it is driven for about 30 minutes and turned off the
engine will not start again. It will crank and start if I manually give it gas but stalls after I
release the gas pedal. If the car sits for about 30 minutes it will fire up without any
problems. Any ideas?

How hard is it to change a fuel filter?
locate it it is normaly silver in colour about 6" long and about 4" in diameter undo the jubilee clips and replace with a new unit making sure it is facing the correct way the arrows on it show flow and return and try it again you could also have a suspect fuel pumpbut odds are a clogged filter and it takes about 15 mins when you locate it it is one of the simpler jobs to do on a car these days regards john j.s autos uk

Thanks for your help. I will see if I can find the fuel filter. Hopefully that will take care of it.
John, I have the same issue with my 03 ford focus. Did the fuel filter solve the issue? Thanks for the post!

Amanda, because there was so much discussion pertaining to this issue related to the fuel system I tried the cheapest and less time consuming option first. I purchased some fuel system cleaner and filled the car up with high octane gas. I haven't had the possible again.
