Yes. RR's are not known for reliability and their repair costs are high.

I bought a 2008 RR last year. Had 75,000 miles. Have not had one problem. Maintainence is paramount. Have to keep up with anything that you feel may be a problem or start to be one. It is a gas guzzler ,but I love it. There are alot of people with negative attitude towards RR,but I'm not one of them. It rides like a dream!

I had purchased a new 2010 Range Rover Sport HSE Lux. It was a great vehicle for 47 months (until May 2014). Maintain my vehicles only at dealership with certified techs. On my return from a short road trip to northern Arizona back to Phoenix, my water pump stopped functioning and the vehicle was overheating. The water gauge never indicated there was a problem until it was too late. Within a two miles stretch, a vehicle alarm turned on indicating engine performance issue and stopped as we rolled up to a freeway exit. The engine got so hot that it melted part of the fuel line and would pump fuel on ground when you opened the door. I had 50k miles in 47 months (warranty was 48 mo/48k miles). Once in the shop, they determined the engine was not repairable and had a 5 month wait for an engine core. Luckily Range Rover agreed to cover the repair since I was under in warranty months. I got the vehicle back after 4 months. Apparently, this was a little more common than let on by dealer. I got tired of waiting and leased a BMW 6 Series convertible. My advice, only get a Range Rover unless you can purchase an extended warranty that will cover for the duration you plan to keep. I could not find 3rd party warranties.

I have a 2011 Range Rover Sport w 90k miles. The engine overheated and melted the fuel line. Fuel was still leaking out of the vehicle 12 hours later as this occurred at 9pm at night. I am thankful I told my son to exit the scene. The next morning I discovered it was fuel leaking. Most won't talk about this but I have heard of this many times now. Avoid this vehicle as it is a matter of time before this defect causes a serious injury.
