I TRIED TO AD FREON ON BOTH UPPER AND LOWER AND
IT WOULD NOT FIT THE FITTING TO CHARGE

Your cars factory refrigerant is R12. Sounds like it was never converted over. At that point the fill nozzle is changed. You need a shop to do it properly to switch over to R134A and remove the old R12 legally.
