how come ? who's wrong ? with the same vin number?

How come a car that was with 0 accidents on this website had an accident
on carfax ? Both websites have the same Vin number. I have passed many
cars because according to cargurus they had an accident, is this website not
accurate? who's wrong ?

I believe Cargurus uses VINcheck for their vehicle history report information. So if the accident was reported to Carfax, which is the most popular vehicle history report service on the market, but not VINcheck the accident will not appear in the Cargurus advertisement. I would trust the Carfax report over the Cargurus ad. Just remember that a vehicle history report is only as good as the agencies reporting to it. For example, the Carfax report for my 1993 Chevrolet Caprice shows when I bought it on October 16, 1993. Then nothing until January of 2000. That's because the Chevrolet Dealer where I took it exclusively for service didn't begin reporting to Carfax until January of 2000. Hope that helps! Jim
