my 2003 ford escape fuel gauge is erratic

Asked by Feb 09, 2017 at 04:29 PM about the 2003 Ford Escape XLS

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

It started just taking a day to reach full when I filled up.  It now is erratic all of the time.  A couple of days ago the low fuel light came on so I stopped to fill up and it only took 6 gallons.  Then it read full for a little while.

You probably need a new fuel level sender. The electrical connection might have corrosion on it.

This question is about my fuel gauge. I'm not sure how that was left off.

The fuel gauge only shows what the fuel level sender tells it.
