94 caravan brakes lock up early in morning.

My brakes are way too touchy and lock up
mainly the first thing after sitting all night.
After the ABS light comes on everything is
fine usually.
This is unpredictable and unsafe as I drive
up Mt. roads to work.
How and what can I look at myself before
taking it back to the dumbass mechanic
who performed the brake job before I bought
this van?
