Replace or restore aftermarket cruise control for a J62.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We're preparing to take my son to college in South Dakota from our home in Texas in late August, and I want to either repair my broken cruise control mechanism or install a new aftermarket unit. My truck is a 1988 J62, and its aftermarket cable-controlled cc quit working years ago. I've done some web surfing but haven't found a new unit that no-doubt-about-it is designed to work with my J62. Does anyone know of one and can provide installation instructions? Thanks.

The Rostra Cruise Control Kits are designed to work with most all modern Cars & Trucks that have a Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS). That have an actual throttle cable from the gas pedal to the engine. check to make sure your vehicle has these features. you are looking at about $200 for just the cruise control kit...

Try "Specter Off Road" http://www.sor.com/. Or. (818) 882-1238 They have darn near every cruiser part, or a good aftermarket fix.
