Can anyone tell me the private party value on an 85 4runner?

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

Looking to buy from my ex and he said to make an offer but I cannot locate a good website to give a value on a car that old. It was running 6 months ago. He said it needs an alternator and he tore out the seats and carpet to start turning it into a crawler but hasn't finished. Body is in great shape as we had all dents removed and new paint/decals put on a few years ago. Has approx 200k miles on it but engine was rebuilt around 180k and rebuilt tranny put in around the same time. It never ran perfectly after that so I know there are still some mechanical issues even if I put a new alternator in. A ball park value would be appreciated. Thank you

I bought my 85 4 Runner DLX 10 years ago and I am the second owner...I have clear title and a Car Fax that says it is clean. I have gone through it and replaced everything...It runs Great!!! I have 31 x 10.50, LCE header and 2.5 inch exhaust, Red Line all synthetic in the engine, transmission and differentials...you won't find a more stock and in better shape 4 Runner anywhere...I really don't want to sell...but like anything in life the right price is always enticing...a mechanic offered me the last time I got an inspection in 2018 at a Toyota dealer $16,000...I gracefully declined...even Hagerty Insurance has said these older 4 Runners are really gaining some interest. I trailered it when I bought it from the state of Oregon to Missouri.
