Question type: Shopping & Pricing

Hello,

I found a 2013 MINI Cooper Roadster S that has everything I want.  I found out the day I
decided to buy it that the 6 speed manual transmission needed to be replaced.  I know
MINI had transmission issues back in 02-06 in the US with automatics.  I'm curious if I
should wait for the transmission to be replaced or should I wait for a newer model or
build the same thing I'm currently waiting for with a transmission that works?

MINI had the trans built and shipped from Germany. The dealer will be replacing it. I can't take if off the lot until the trans has been replaced. It will be covered by the MINI warranty.

Can I ask what the transmission problem was? I have just purchased a 63 plate cooper roadster and it too has had to have the gearbox replaced, I collected it and I still think it feels tight and clunky!! Any advice welcome! I'm not happy so taking it back to dealership...

Wait if the trans went out vehicle maybe high mileage. If not high mileage some sort of factory or company issue. I wouldn't buy it unless I get some sort of warranty on whole car.
