2013 BMW 328i xDrive has ticking sound when idling

I just purchased a pre-owned 2013 BMW 328i
xDrive that didn’t run. We know nothing about
the cars past, just that when we tried to
started it, it would turn over and that’s it. My
fiancé is a self-taught mechanic but had never
worked on a BMW before this one. He
changed the timing and was able to get the
car to start but now there’s a ticking when the
car is idling. Can y’all please help! There is
also some codes showing up on his computer
reader saying something about the camshaft
sensor or something? But he’s replaced
them...please any help welcomed!

There is a pretty good chance the head gasket is blown.... That being said im not 100% Have him list to the top left under the hood for a light or hard tick tick tick tick sound. If so blown head gasket and potential engine/piston damage. Again I'm not 100% on any of that but its a good place to start. Also if you have an O'Reilly's by you you could loan a tool an obd2 scanner and run your codes to see if that might tell you something. (It will tell you A LOT, what I mean is, tell you something pertaining to the engine codes being thrown with cooling system, head's, head gaskets, .... Hope that helps!
