Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 98 durrango is not switching in gears. I can't
get up to 30 mph. And its making this loud noise. I
got a test for transmission. No codes came back.
Also mymy trans temp light is on. I got my trans
fluid flushed but not changed the filter. It still starts
up and drive its actually a good truck just don't
know what to so with it. Miles are real high too.

I couldn't agree more. A flush will pick up that small debris, the junk, that lays in the bottom of the pan or in filter, and does no harm. Many cars have a magnet in the transmission pan, ( My Toyota has that) that collects steel dust. A flush disturbs all that and circulates it through your transmission doing far more harm than benefit. Then also, some places use solvents in a flush that never get entirely out. It does nothing with the torque converter either. The oil-change joints push them because it's a very high profit procedure. And they have to pay for those expensive flush machines. Not to mention they have to remove the cooler lines and replace. One more thing...for the $125 to $200 will be a start to save for a rebuilt transmission. IMHO..~~David
