Question type: General

The speedometer in my 1965 mustang indicates 10 -15 mph faster than I am actually going. The speedometer is original but at some time or other the c4 transmission has been changed out. How can I fix this problem?  thank you

Probably the wrong gear at the speedometer cable end where it attaches to the transmission.

Do you have the old transmission? Get the gear from it. Summit Racing can sell you another one.

Yes, thank you. After doing a little research I am finding that there is a complicated formula on figuring out what combination of gears will fix the problem. The only thing I don't know is how many threads are on the drive gear in the transmission. I guess I have to remove the tail shaft to find that out??
