I have a 98 dodge Dakota all the lights work
besides the brake lights they keep blowing a
fuse no idea what to do like I said all other
lights are fine

I did everything looks good... Could it be the ground wire or if it was the ground wire wouldn't that blow all the fuses for blinkers brake lights and night lights seeing how their all the same bulb

Behind the brake pedal is the brake switch it may be broken. If its good then you need to trace the wires to the rear brake lights in the brake applied only lines because the rest is working. could be under dash to under truck.

I would also buy another set of bulbs not working to test out if a bulb is bad because if one is bad the other will not or may not work at least with American made models of the older years.

I started out with the brake light switch. Open closer examination when removing the switch I noticed that the wire harness to the switch was rubbing a against the brake pedal lever. Which was wearing away the plastic coating of the wire. Causing the wire to ground out against the brake pedal Lever.
