Check engine light

My boyfriend gave his car a jump start , my car was
already kind of messing up something with the
transmission . But after this my check engine light
came on and hasn't went back off. Does that mean
something ?

Electrical malfunction most likely. I'd take it to the dealership and have them reset it for free.

Visit your local auto parts store and have the computer scanned for trouble codes. Post the codes here and we can help further. Advance and Autozone will do this for free. The Ford Dealer will NOT. HTH. -Jim

have a 2006 ford focus took for inspection. check engine light has never been on. When starting car for inspection garage told me check engine light is on and turn off computer. I said stop and pick up car. I reset computer and put on dia machine all codes passed. do you think they were trying to scam me
