I have an 89 Toyota Corolla SR5 wagon 1.6L engine. What amps should a alternator be for this auto? I had the alternator replaced and the mechanic said it was a lower amp than should be but it would be okay to run .He could not find the right one at any place in the US--this does not sound right to me. I've been offered a deal to buy a 1999 Toyota Corolla VE 5-speed with 186k for $400. The owner did tell me the car is leaking/burning oil (he's not sure which one it is). I searched online for this issue on this vehicle and it seems to be a constant but people don't seem to mind because other than that the car still is a great commuter car. 2014 LE (Eco). I bought my Corolla the end of June of this year. Several times (4) I have had no acceleration from a dead stop and had to pump the gas peddle to get any response from the vehicle. Is there anything I can do at this point. Pretty scary with an 18 wheeler on your tail... 5 Answers

No acceleration from a dead stop, this has happened 4 times since June 2014. I just purchased the vehicle then and this happens very often to me. Twice just this week.
