Can I safely use 5W30 motor oil in my 2013 Hyundai Sonata

Asked by GuruLGYR6 May 06, 2019 at 09:54 AM about the 2013 Hyundai Sonata GLS FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I've asked several times at the dealership about this very issue, they said only
5W20 motor all year.
Something I don't get especially during the hot humid summer months.
Can I use 5W30 motor oil? With no problem or difference.

1 Answer

If it does not use oil stick with the factory recommendation. I use 5W30 in my 2015 Forester because it uses oil, Subaru recommends 0W20 but I have no issues of any kind using the heavier oil.
