Toyota 2013 Rav4 rear door

Will the 2013 Toyota Rav4 rear door lift to open or will it continue to open from the side?  On windy days,
my 2002 Rav4 rear door closes on my legs as I'm putting groceries or golf clubs in the back.   Very bad on
my knees.  I hope it lifts.  Also, opening from the side takes up too much space in my garage as it's too
long.  I'm shopping for a new car this year.  If it still opens from the side, I'll be buying a Honda CR-V.

I spoke to a Toyota dealer two days ago and he said the new 2013 back door will swing up like a mini van door.

Yes, the rear door will open just like the highlanders and siennas. The new rav4 will look like a small highlander and still function as the old rav4's. Hope this helps and it will probably be worth the wait to purchase.

I like the swing door. Never had trouble with wind closing it on me. I have an 2002 Rav my son is getting. I made mistake and bought a Honda CRV, bad, bad, bad. It has no ashtray I do not smoke but I use it for lose change for emergency coke or car wash etc. It also has a bunch of pockets with no doors on them. So lose receipt or paper will fly out with wind. And drive it at night before you commit because the headlights suck. CAN NOT wait to trade it in. Just my 2 cents here.

Those rear doors that swing straight up are fine if they go up high enough. Otherwise, tall drivers are in for some punishment.

I'd rather have a door tap me in the butt than CRASH ON MY HEAD. Seriously. I LOVE our 06 Rav4's sideways opening door.
