Is it difficult to convert a dodge Dakota from 4x2 to a 4x4

Short answer-Yes The expense is as much as trading it in for a 2000-2002 Dakota 4X4, transfer case, entire front axle, shifter(s), the list goes on and on

indeed, just sell and buy the 4X4, axles, transmissions, wiring the list would go on and on. if you want a 4x4 swapping is a very, very expensive way to go, especially for an older smaller truck
