I dont think its illegal, your car do what you want ,ive seen a few with a switch to cut current to cluster to stop recording and it stops it at that area but not at body control, ask a service tech at shop for warrenty work, first thing scan milage,mfr. of car knows their customers quite well. best you can do is taller wheels and compensate for mph error do the math many on road now off a few %
