2013 Escape will not go into gear after shift cable replacement.

I have replaced the gear shift cable, now the vehicle will not go into gear.  I
have disconnect the cable from the transmission and tried to manually shift the
transmission into gear with the car jacked up of both front tires.  It will still will
not shift.

It could be the brake safety switch , the brakes have to be applied to shift right ? Maybe a solenoid on the tranny ?
