Why won't my neon go into gear 2nd or reverse?

I just bought an 02 neon she 5 speed a
week ago. Its been running great until
today. It won't go into second gear or
reverse. I try putting it in the gears and it
bounces back go neutral.... please say I
don't need a new transmission.

no, but its almost as expensive to fix. prolly the little .97 cent pin inside broke or came out. had it happen on my dakota. they had to tear the whole thing apart to get to a $1 part. 2 days and 800$. sucks
