Car stuck in first gear and idling high

I was driving down the road and hit a big bump and
every since then my car will not go out of first gear
and at idle high at lights

you probably broke some linkage on the tranny . You should take a look underneath , pull half the car up on a big ol' curb in a pinch .

Well I was driving pretty quick down an alley and I hit a big pothole and now it won't shift out of first and it wants to idle high I don't know much about front-wheel drives or transmission you got any advice
