How to apply manual parking brake in 2013 Ford explorer XLT

Coulld anyone please let me know how to use the parking
brake in 2013 Ford explorer XLT. I could see a lever for the
same below the steering wheel area with "Push for
On/Off" written on the lever but nothing happens when i
push it. May be i am missing something here so any help
help would be appreciated.

If you have an owner's manual refer to it for the correct procedure. I think you have to hold the brake pedal down and then push the park brake to on.
