I drive toyota corolla 2012. my check engine and trac off lights come on when I drive above 120kph or over a rough road. when this happens the car don't pull very well and fuel consumption is high.

I have a 2007 Toyota Corolla. When the key is in the ON position the Check Engine and Battery symbols lights up. However I havent seen this coming while driving or starting my car. I have been reading that when the key is in the ON position this is normal as long as it doesnt show up while driving. Can some one throw more light on this? 4 Answers

My 2003 Toyota Corolla with 175,000 miles was showing the check engine light. My friend ran a check and the code P0770 came up, which is Shift Solenoid 'E' Malfunction. When I'm on the freeway, I do notice my car is slow on accelerating, but my MPG is fine. How much would it cost to get this fix? Also, would I fail the California SMOG check?
