Extended warranty on a salvaged title

Asked by Chris Nov 25, 2019 at 01:52 PM about the 2012 Subaru Outback 3.6R Limited

Question type: General

I recently learned of an expensive repair that is covered by my extended warranty. But I
read the fine text of my warranty and learned that the car was never covered because
it is a salvage title. The damage that lead to it being ‘totaled’ was from a broken door
and airbags, there was no structural or engine damage. The repairs weren’t even more
expensive than the value of the car. When I was sold the warranty, I was never asked
about accident history, only how well the car drives. What should I do? Should I still try
to be reimbursed by the warranty? Should I cancel the warranty?

I'd try to make a claim for the repairs first. If it's declined then I'd ask for my money back for the warranty. You bought the warranty in good faith that you'd be able to use it. Yes you signed the contract but in my opinion you shouldn't have been offered the warranty coverage on a vehicle that is not eligible for the coverage!! Hope that helps! Jim

any update on this? unless they run a history check they wont know its salvage and may process the claim without incident
