I just have to ask - you heard a loud bang like a gunshot from under the hood, saw lots of smoke from the exhaust, and you just kept driving it? Your engine obviously suffered some sort of breakdown, keep driving it if you want to destroy it completely. My guess is the cooling system went on it, maybe even a head gasket, and now it stopped "smoking" out the exhaust as it no longer has any coolant left. You should have this towed to a garage for service. Towed, not driven.
