CVT Transmission additives

Asked by Chris Mar 12, 2019 at 12:44 PM about the 2012 Mitsubishi Galant ES

Question type: General

I have a 2012 Mitsubishi galant and it's CVT
Transmission and just had it rebuilt @
162000 miles. I checked auto part stores for
an additive like a conditioner but could not
find anything for a CVTTransmission. Any
recommendations for an additive and
should I use one. Thanks Chris

CVT transmissions use a special fluid and it contains a "friction modifier" designed to help the metal drive belt grip the metal pulleys. If they used the correct fluid, you probably don't have to add a supplement.. You must be doing something right to get 162K miles out of the original transmission.

The only maintenance you can do to a CVT is change the fluid every 50,000 miles.
