5.3 Suburban Losing Oil Pressure

30

Asked by Pocketnines15 Feb 16, 2019 at 10:26 PM about the 2012 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 LT 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

On the way to work OP suddenly dropped to 0 and
warning light come on saying shut down engine.
Had her towed home. Seems upon cold start I get
40lbs @idle. I could drive it about 10 minutes
before losing all OP and getting shutdown
warning. I can shut off winging and immediately
get 20lbs pressure back which slowly bleeds down
to zero. Researched and decided on changing OP
pressure sensor. Test drove and was acting the
same.

More research Showed a “filter” we missed under the pressure sensor. So we got new sensor and filter and put in a new sensor and a new filter. Filter was pretty grimy on bottom. Test drove and made it about 20 mins this time before getting 0 pressure alarm again. Changed oil.. went from 5w-20 - 10w-30& new filter Drove for 25 mins never got alarm. Runs about 40 lbs on dash however when coming to a stop OP drops to 10-15 pounds. Doesn’t feel right. Could this possibly be the pickup tube o-ring issue? Trying to decide if an oil pan drop is necessary. Thanks

Considering dropping the oil pan to check out the o-ring on the pickup tube. Any Body have any other ideas?
