I’ve owned a 2012 Nissan Rogue for the last six years and I currently have 97600 miles on it and as I was traveling on the interstate my cvt trasnsmission decides to drop my speed and the car quickly accelerated. I quickly got off on the next exit with a million thoughts going on in my head as to what could be wrong. Being a woman and having some mechanic training I quickly remembered to check my transmission fluid levels. As I popped the hood and checked the transmission fluid it was a quart low so I shut the hood and went a couple yards down the road to Walmart and purchased some cvt transmission fluid even tho it wasn’t the kind recommended by Nissan but it was good enough to get my car back to normal til I got back home and scheduled my car for a transmission fluid exchange which wasn’t cheap. So far this seems to have corrected my problem. My advice to anyone having any problems in the future is to first check your cvt fluid level.

Those, along with many recent model Nissans with the CVT transmissions have had numerous issues with those transmissions. At one point, I knew a couple who had a rental car for nearly 3 weeks because the transmission for their Altima was literally on back order under warranty repair. Until the dust settles with Nissan and their lousy CVT transmissions, I'd steer clear.
