I need a oil sending unit.

Asked by Tim Nov 29, 2020 at 07:46 PM about the 2003 Dodge Dakota SLT Plus Quad Cab 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

162k miles. Oil pressure drops when idle. No lifter noise. Off idle pressure looks
normal. First test replace the sensor. But I cannot locate one anywhere. Only oil
pressure switch.

The switch, sensor, and sending unit are basically the same with the exception of just a couple of differences. The switch operates a light whereas the sensor is capable of operating a gauge and light. The sending unit is just what they referred to it as in older vehicles.

But here is the problem the only available part is for the light not the gauge. Pressure switch verses an analog variable output. No matter what it's called no one has it.
