loss of power

i have 88 dodge power ram with a 318 in it that lost power , it has no converter in it , we replaced fuel filter , new fuel injectors , new map sensor , replaced computer, bypassed egr , put in new water temp sensors,  retimed the engine and the truck got its power back , but shortly after running the test driving the truck it lost power again ,it went out of tme , it has a electronic distrbuter in it. it went out of time after test driving it. would it be timing chain and gear? or bad distributer or both??

there is no gear on bottom its a key way style, is the chain and gears plastic? could be streched maybe? alot of work to replace on a maybe??
