Why does my truck not engage into gear in morning when cold?

Why does my automatic 1989 Dodge go into drive
in morning when I start it and its cold but then I
push on gas and its like it goes into nuetral and
won't move so I let off gas and stop put it back into
park then drive and that fixes it?  Does it every
morning when it's cold but then doesn't do it rest of
the day..  any healp would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like you are either low on fluid or the pump inside the transmission is going bad. I would stop by a transmission shop as ask. Some shops will check it out for free.
