Mixed tires. Winters front, all-seasons rear. Bad idea?

Asked by Nov 23, 2014 at 09:26 PM about the 2005 Honda Civic EX Special Edition

Question type: General

Pocketbook is tight but I need winters. Can I get winters on the front only? Is tire size an
issue if I do this?

1 Answer

wont hurt the car as long as they are exactly the same size, that said, its not a good idea. you can get an exaggerated oversteer condition that could cause you to lose control. most reputable tire dealers won't let you do this.
