i think the thermal fan switch is not working its a sensor located under the radiator which turns the fan on and off

The thermostats are set kinda high on a lot of the jeeps.. and therefore settings for that fan as well, or temp gauge is off.. But i would.. Take a wire straight form the battery to the hot wire of the fan to make sure its good. If it is, throw a switch in by the steering wheel for a temporary fix. Or if you like switches and more control (flip it on when you see rush hour traffic ahead so engine never does over heat at all) Just keep the switch! :)

I have a 98 Jeep Cherokee that has that same issue. My electric fan broke so I bought another one. I put it in and now the wire isn't working. I changed the fuse and relay but still no power in the plug. It's frustrating cause it has to be something simple but I can't figure it out. I'm at the point of wiring a switch up off the pigtail I'm gonna install on the fan wire. Any answers would be great before I do any cutting. Thanks!!

I might be wrong, but the PCM flows through the skim which is not only the security for the key but also sensors. I had an issue, and many old jeeps do regarding the key ignition and it not starting. I had it cleared out for the key on my old jeep but left the sensors active. You can clear them all out. Let me know I have no idea for sure, but this system is overlooked as what might be the wiring issue. All I know is there is only place in the Miami, FL area that will clear it out. It's like 125 plus 10 in shipping. https://www.mo-power.com/jeep-grand-cherokee-security-skim-key-delete
