Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I recently purchased a 2004 Ford Explorer
it's been sitting awhile they put a new fuel
pump in about a year ago but it didn't have
much gas and they had lost the keys we
took the ignition out and attempting to start
that way I get fire I get fuel from the fuel rail
but just not much pressure Equitable Gas
down the throttle body and it will start and
run but the fuel pumps not working is there
a way that the ignition not being in it would
affect that would cause that

Check and see if the fuel shut-off switch has been tripped. Look into this. When the key is turned to the "on" position, the fuel pump should start running. Once the vehicle is started the switch returns to "on" position. If there is no "run" signal to the PCM, the fuel pump may not turn on.
