My car won't move when in any gear
I have a 2002 Audi a6 Quattro. Its a 5 speed
automatic. Long story short, I jacked it up on the
transmission pan. Started fine, but when it's put in
any gear, it won't go at all. I looked at the pan and it
does have a noticeable dent in it. Is this something
i can fix by just replacing the pan, or is this going to
be more than that? I know I will have to change out
the tranny fluid and filter in the process, just hoping
I can do this myself and save some coin. Any help
is much appreciated as I need to get this car back
up and running asap. Thanks.
Doh! Sounds like you might have damaged the valve body of the transmission, which sits right above the pan. That takes care of all the shifting. Have a local trans shop or audi garage perform the work for you, at this point you will be wasting your time pulling the pan and fluid. Today's transmissions are complex and it won't be cheap. Sorry.
and this is why you use designated mounts to jack the cars up with. and the subframe is anouther one of those places that is considered a no no to jack on.
