2004 ford escape battery dies
My 2004 battery keeps dying and won't hold a
charge. So we replaced the alternator, the
tensioner pulley and belt, checked fuses and
battery cables and bought a new battery. And the
car was dead within the day..we've seemed to have
tried everything and can't figure it out. Please help.
Did you have the charging system checked after you replaced the parts? This has a computer controlled charging system, so,if the computer is not turning on the alternator then it won't keep the up and it will die in a short period of time. Then after that and still a no go then did you run a battery draw test where you hook in a test light between the battery post and cable end, and if the light turns on bright then you have a draw so next disconnect the alternator electrically, if the light goes out, you found your problem if not then start removing the fuses one at a time until the light goes out, when you find the circuit that turn off the light then you have to find out what is on that circuit locate the bad circuit or componet that is causing the draw and replace or repair it, then start putting the fuses back in one at a time and watch the light, just too make sure you didn't miss anything. Note: parasitic loads on today's vehicles may cause the light too just glow dimly, this is not a draw and should be ignored. Good luck.
