why is my mpg bad on my 2012 sportage

Asked by mvetrano2 Feb 29, 2012 at 12:12 PM about the 2012 Kia Sportage EX AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2012 sprorage ex awd with 3000 miles on it and cannot do better than 18mpg no matter how I drive.  The car is advertised to get between 22/32 and I am no where near that. What could possibly be wrong?

The most common variable in MPG's is the driver. A steady pedal is must. Also, could be your gas. If you're using low grade gasoline, your going to get crappy mileage. Also, the EPA estimates that are advertised are theoretical values based on computer simulations, they're not an actual measure of fuel economy.
