High rev low MPH
2004 Escape 195,000 mi. Driving home could not
get over 40 MPH engine was sounded like it was
struggling. Even if RPM was 3000 still no go.
Backed down to 2000. Engine didn't sound like it
struggled as much. Shifted gears but that didn't
help. Oh, it's an automatic.
Plugged exhaust is the first thing to check, if that checks out then onto, the transmission, possible torque converter failure.
Had a problem with my emissions breather line being disconnected. Reconnected the line but still have problem. How do I check if it's a plugged exhaust? Is it something I can do. I'm moderately mechanically inclined. Have most tools.
Forgot to say there is no check engine light. Will I be able to get an engine code?
you can purchase a exhaust pressure tester from your local parts store, and yes you can do it yourself if you have the slightest mechanical ability. The only codes will be those stored in memory or pending codes, if your scanner can access those.
