How do I get my engine to stop revving while in park?

There is no pressure to the gas pedal!

Well the car was barely being used when I got it from a friend, but there was a new engine put in before I got it! There also is a lot of build-up on the engine so that could be the problem that you stated! Just wanted to be sure! Thank you!!!
