Car battery replaced

Asked by Jul 15, 2017 at 11:44 PM about the 2012 Cadillac SRX Premium FWD

Question type: General

I changed the battery in my 2012 Cadillac SRX,
now it seems the computer system needs to be
reset. Any suggestions?

If you pulled the battery out without using the saver tool that plugs into the OBD 2 port then you have lost all of the factory presets and the only place to get them back is the dealership.

Ok thank you

At one time they put a warning the owners manual in the battery section, but I think they quit doing it to make you have to see the dealer to get it running again if the battery power was lost. I forgot to mention make sure the security system has been shut down as they are set to go into full shut down in the event of a power loss. Just too much electronic equipment any more, and with computers linking with computers in today's vehicles you can get lost rather quickly.

I'm never buying a caddy after reading this, what a pain

Then you better give up on buying anything after 2005, after that date, most vehicles need the saver tool plugged in before the battery is disconnected or replaced.

On page 5 of the Customer Convenience/ Personalization Guide under keyless Start : " Stop • Shift to Park and press the START/STOP button to turn off the engine. Power will be available for 10 minutes to operate the audio system until the driver’s door is opened and to operate the windows and sunroof✦ until any door is opened. Accessory • With the engine off and the brake pedal NOT depressed, press the START/STOP button to place the ignition system in the Accessory position. The yellow indicator on the button will illuminate. • Press the button again to return to the Off position. Note: The battery may drain and the vehicle may not start if the ignition is in the Accessory position for an extended period of time. See Driving and Operating in your Owner Manual.

When you change the battery on a 2014 caddy sxr it takes 100.00 miles to reset the computer.Just had this problem and riding around and adding 100.miles reset my computer.Going to the dealership said the same thing
