CEL and blinking Cruze

Asked by Jack Dec 02, 2018 at 11:08 AM about the 2008 Subaru Impreza 2.5i Hatchback

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2008 Subaru Impreza 2.5i with the
CEL and blinking Cruze light. The lights
showed up after I was doing donuts in the
snow. What should I do and how do I fix it?

Get the codes read. Most parts stores do this for free. When you have the trouble codes then you'll know what the problem area is.

Thank You, I got my car scanned and the results said I need an oil change, which I scheduled for next week. In your best opinion, will the oil change remove the two icons? Or could it be something else?

Only if you have a loss of oil pressure or it's low. I'm not a Subaru pro so I don't want to steer you wrong. The blinking cruise light may have been due to your donuts in the snow, may be an ABS sensor got knocked around, an ABS scan tool should pinpoint the cause of the light. The CEL could be due to the mileage since your last oil change, hopefully that's all it is. Have the shop doing the oil change scan it again.
