Are there any problems buying a demo car with repaired hail damage?

Asked by omgirl Sep 05, 2012 at 07:12 PM about the 2012 BMW X5 xDrive35d AWD

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

We are looking at a BMW X5d that is the sales managers demo it has around 3000 miles and received hail
damage during a resent hail storm.  The dealership has replaced the hood and removed any other dents
on the roof.  They have deducted $12,000 off the MSRP.  Is that a good deal and are there any issues with
a car that has had hail damage?

Hail damage vehicles are a tricky one to buy and get a good deal. First you want to make sure the vehicle did not get a branded title if so make sure you warranty would still be in effect. Also if any of the windows broke and rain did enter the vehicle then I would walk away from it. There are a lot of modules in this vehicle and any water any where could cause some major headaches now and down the road. Hope this helps and good luck with your purchase the diesels are one of the best to own and so over looked by most.

If there is no water damage the damages caused to the hood and roof won't haunt you, look for water damage and assure your warranty stands and this is a very good deal. I bought an x3 like this and had 8000 miles but I had 4 years of warranty after and my x3 is stilll great...
