2007 5.4l triton knocking and ticking

Asked by Kevin Apr 23, 2019 at 02:02 PM about the 2007 Ford F-150 Lariat SuperCrew 5.5ft Bed 4WD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2007 Ford F150 Lariat Super Crew with the 5.4l V8 triton. I have
replaced the cam phasers, oil pump, chains, guides and tensioners, as well
as the coils and spark plugs. Also went to full synthetic oil on it just recently. I
have also ran several injector cleaners and fuel system treatment solutions
through. I don't know what the deal is but it doesn't have the power i would
expect of a v8 and knocks like a damn diesel. Can anyone help?

Is the sound the same as before you replaced the cam phasers? Cam phaser failure can happen again. If it is this you should install a phaser elimination kit.

I just researched the diesel sounding issue and came up with replacing the VVT solenoids. Found that info through Ford Tech Makuloco.
