I have a 2004 Chrysler Sebring Convertible. How much should I expect to pay to have the motor for the convertible roof replaced?

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

The top is having trouble both going down and going back up. I brought it to someone who
told me the motor for the roof needs to be replaced. How much should I expect to spend?

Okay first thing you need to figure out is if you are going to pay someone to do replace this for you or if you want to do the work yourself. If the first option is your choice your looking at about 1-2 grand just to replace a hydraulic motor. If the second option this video ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GCz2XN4ulZk ) also refer to this video ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S0qcNgiSI-Q ) these can help as far as fixing or repairing goes. One thing I would check before replacing the motor on this is if the motor even needs replacement of if you should just put fluid into it because if the fluid is out then that could cause problems and make the top not work, if the pump actually does need replacement then ( https://www.convertibletopguys.com/convertible/770/1996-06-Chrysler-Sebring#hydraulics ) this url can help the pump here is for years 1996-2006 this is assuming you don't want to go the cheaper route and just send the pump in and have it repaired if possible there is guides and a lot of other things that you need to know about your car here or even parts to replace broken ones. over all I believe you could spend anywhere between 300-800 dollars fixing this if the pump needs to be replaced assuming you can't find cheaper alternatives yourself. I know this isn't an exact price or anything but at least it ball parks you into the area and does not leave you guessing, for anymore information my recommendation is that you go to Google and look up the information for you car and make sure to include Year Make Model Sub-model (Example: JX, JXI, LX, or LXI) and Engine (Example 2.5 Liter V6) this information should be already known to you and if it is not it should be easy to find out just by examining your car. Hope this helps.
