Bought a new S60 T5-Carpet problem on a new car

The carpet on the side on the passenger side has a 1/8 " wide 5" long area with no carpet, just a bare area. It isn't that noticeable but it is a new car and it annoys me. They said to bring it in. Do you think it can be fixed without tearing out all the carpet in that area.?

The rep from volvo said there is a normal tear in the carpet to relieve stress from stepping on the carpet. This sounds like bull to me. Does anyone have a 2012 S60 with a tear in the passenger side carpet and did you complain and did the dealer say this was normal? The tear is on the left side of the carpet on the passenger side and also there are missing carpet fibers on the right passenger side. The rep was trying to say this is from funiture being put in the front seat and this damaged the carpet. More bull. He will get back to me with the answer.
