2012 VW CC Timing Chain Failure

What ancillary repairs would require or include
timing chain or tensioner replacement? Or re-timing
where the timing chain/tensioner would be exposed
or require inspection? I’ve had numerous repairs to
the car leading up to the failure, so trying to
understand impact, if any, related to those activities.
Or, if timing chain replacement is a given with other
repairs where it may not be specifically identified
I.e. (coil/plug replacement)?
