battery symbol is on, drove for an hour then car started to go slow

the battery symbol came on, i drove for an hour then even though i gave it gas the engine
revved up high but the car kept getting slower. but when i went around around a turn and
slowed the car would go faster when i gave it gas. could this be the alternator and how
hard is it to replace. thanks

Yes it is the alternator,or could be a bad battery,not to hard to replace,if you have the right tools.

just replaced the battery in February, the alternator can be replaced easy, do you need to jack up the car?
