Hyundai Elantra limited 2011 Breaklight issues

Asked by Ibrahim Mar 25, 2020 at 11:42 PM about the 2011 Hyundai Elantra Limited FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have noticed that the break light in my Elantra is not working, I thought it's
just break light bulbs, but I sometimes they are working. Recently I have
noticed the whole back light is not working when I hit the break Pedal other
light are on instead of break light. I don't if it's electric issue or fuse or
something else, because the light in the back are acting weird. I want to add
my hand break signal light sometimes it does not turn on when use hand
break. I amp not sure if it's related to issue or not.

Call the dealer and see if your vehicle is covered by the current recall for the brake light switch problem. Recall Number 13V113000 Recall Date 04/01/2013

There was a recall for the brake switch yes, but does the car shift out of and back into park with your foot on the brake? If the answer is yes, IT IS NOT THE BRAKE SWITCH. There is common problem with 2011-2016 Elantra's and their wiring harnesses melting. Search google. "2011 Hyundai Elantra known problems". You will see hundreds of complaints about it.
