Any help on getting a CD out of CD player. Player won't eject.

Asked by GuruD5SNW Aug 11, 2017 at 02:51 PM about the 1992 Cadillac Allante FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I inserted CD into player and now CD won't eject, just keeps making a
ratcheting sound.  Do I need to remove entire CD player to get CD out?

the cd player is very temperature sensitive . I had a few that refused to work in cooler weather , but on a warm sunny day no problems. try parking your car in the sun till the interior of your car is atleast 80 or better , then try. Otherwise , yes , the tower must be removed to get to the player.

as a follow-up I temporarily plugged in a slot load cd player that made the same rapid clicking when I try to load a disc. This unit is stuck halfway between the load and eject cycles, These players use a complicated loader mechanism made up of fine tooth plastic gears that jam up and cause the eject solenoid to ratchet... I think it's a timing issue jumped gear teeth ect.
